Financial Management and Economics of Health and Pension Plan Systems University of Finance & Administration (Vysoká škola Finanční a Správní – VSFS) & University of Piraeus
Setting the Stage The European Research Studies Journal is going to hold its 2012 Workshop in Prague, Czech Republic in cooperation with the University of Finance & Administration (Vysoká škola finanční a správní – VSFS), the University of Piraeus, the Athens University of Economics & Business, the University of A Coruna & the Loyola University of Chicago. The ERSJ 2012 Workshop will be held on Monday, September 24th, 2012 at the university’s campus in Prague. Bringing together academics and professionals, this workshop aims at providing further insight into risk management by means of an economic and financial approach. The main goal of the ERSJ 2012 Workshop is to address one of the most acute problems that the EU is going to face in the near future, the financial viability of Pension Plan Systems. The European Union is ageing as a result of two developments: firstly, the number of people aged 65 years and over is increasing and, secondly, the number of children (age group 0 – 14 years) is decreasing. This trend coupled with the deterioration of public economic figures and the negative outlook on EU’s economic performance in the short term, constitute a time bomb in the foundations of European societies. Many countries are expected to experience a decline in population over the coming decades, though this could be offset with new countries planning to join EU within the next 20 years. The EU is called to tackle the problem by formalizing joint EU-based cooperation on funding schemes. In this context, Financial Management in the field of Health Economics appears more challenging than ever. Call for Papers We invite both theoretical and empirical papers on one of the following topics (non-exhaustive list):
Selected papers will be published in one of the following International Journals participating in the Workshop according to the publishing requirements of each Journal:
